Gloucestershire police are appealing for witnesses to a serious injury road traffic collision that occurred at about 6.13pm yesterday (6 July 2016) on the A417, Crickley Hill.

The collision involved a white Laverda motorcycle which was travelling uphill and a red and white articulated heavy goods vehicle that was travelling downhill.

The rider and pillion passenger of the motorcycle, a 53-year-old man and 49-year-old woman, both from the Gloucester area, were treated at the scene by paramedics and air ambulance staff, prior to being transferred to Southmead Hospital in Bristol, where they remain in a critical condition.

The lorry driver, a 33-year-old man from Tewkesbury, was shaken but uninjured.

The road was closed for nine hours during which officers from the Tri-Force Specialist Operations Collaboration unit carried out a detailed investigation.

The investigation team would like to hear from any witnesses who have not yet been spoken to and ask that anyone with information please get in touch by dialling 101 and quoting incident No 409 of 06/07/2016.
