Two men have been arrested following a fire in Stroud early this morning, Thursday 15 June.

 The fire, at the Salvation Army building in Acre Street, was discovered at about 4.15am by patrolling officers from Gloucestershire Police who raised the alarm. 

Parliament Street was closed and nearby properties were evacuated as a precaution as crews from Gloucestershire Fire and Rescue Service dealt with the fire..

Two men aged 31 and 33 were arrested nearby on suspicion of arson and burglary and are in custody awaiting questioning.

No further details are available at this time. 

Investigating officers would like to hear from anyone who was in Acre Street this morning and witnessed any suspicious activity, or has any other information which would help them with their enquiries.
