An 18-year-old man has been arrested on suspicion of assault and criminal damage following an incident in Cirencester in the early hours.

Police received a report at about 2am (today, 30 March) that a group of men was being pursued by a moped rider who was threatening to harm them. It followed an altercation at a wine bar in Castle Street earlier, in which three of the men were assaulted.

A short while later, it was reported that between 15 and 20 cars parked in Gloucester Street had been vandalised.

The two incidents are being linked.

Anyone with information about the assaults or the moped incident, or who was affected by the car damage but has not yet reported it to police can call 101, quoting incident 33 of 30/3/17, or call into Cirencester police station.
