Officers are appealing for information on two serious collisions in Gloucester today(April 3).

The first collision happened at around 6am this morning, where the motorcyclist - a 20-year-old man from Tuffley - was riding along Bruton Way when he came off. The man was taken to Gloucestershire Royal hospital for treatment where he sadly died of his injuries. It is believed that there were no other vehicles involved in the collision.

The road was closed for around six hours from the railway station traffic lights to the junction with London Road whilst collision investigation was carried out.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to contact Gloucestershire Police on 101, quoting incident 109 of April 3.

In a second collision a 56-year-old woman has been left with life-threatening injuries after her wheelchair that she was in was struck by a car on Great Western Road at around 12.15pm today. The victim was struck by a Volvo V40 car registered to Bream. The victim sustained serious leg and internal injuries and was initially treated at Gloucestershire Royal hospital before being transferred to Southmead hospital in Bristol.

The road was closed for around 5 hours to aid officers investigating the collision. 

Anyone who may have witnessed this incident is asked to contact police quoting incident 202 of April 3.

A 35-year-old man from Bream was arrested on suspicion of driving whilst disqualified. As of 4.40pm on Sunday April 3 he is still in custody.
