A man has sadly died and another is in a critical condition after a collision on the A40 near Northleach.

At around 3.50am today (Tuesday 9 August), a black Seat Ibiza collided head on with a HGV. 

A 31-year-old man was pronounced deceased at the scene. Another 31-year-old man was taken to Oxford Hospital with life threatening injuries and remains there in a critical condition. Both men were travelling in the car which is registered to Gloucester. 

The HGV driver, a 62-year-old man, was not injured.

The road was closed whilst a collision investigation took place and re-opened at around 12.15pm.

Anyone who witnessed the collision is asked to call police on 101 quoting incident 46 of 9 August.
