Gloucestershire Constabulary has held yet another successful open day, with a record-breaking amount of visitors.

Over 5,500 people attended the open day on Saturday (17 September) compared with 3,750 in 2015 and 3,500 in 2014.

Many of the attractions from the previous two open days returned for 2016 including police dogs, forensics and roads policing.

This year, a series of interesting lectures were held, where tickets sold out prior to the event after such a big interest from the public. These gave an insight into the unseen aspects of policing including forensics, intelligence, cyber-crime and child protection.

We’ve had an overwhelming positive response from visitors who had a great day out at our action packed, family friendly event. Here are some of the comments we received which we would like to share:

“Thanks for a very interesting day! So many great displays and enthusiastic professionals who were very friendly and only too willing to answer our son’s questions. We looked at the army REME display and tried on army gas masks and body armour. The two hours we were there flew by - wished we'd come earlier!”

“All had a brilliant day! The open day was bigger and better than ever. We easily spent four hours there. The Police Dog Top Trumps cards were a lovely addition. They have been played with all afternoon! Well done and thanks to all for your hard work.”

“The open day was excellent, it was well organised and gave hundreds of kids the chance to meet the local police team and try out the latest equipment.”

“It was brilliant. Very well organised and loads to do. We thought we would only be there for an hour but we were there for three. We especially loved the dog demonstration!”

“We had a fantastic time again this year. Everyone is super friendly and genuinely wants to talk to you. Organisation is superb, myself and children loved it, thank you.”

We’re currently putting together a gallery of photos, including ours and those shared with us by members of the public. We’ll let you know when it’s ready to view as soon as we can!

Thank you to everyone who took some time out of their weekend to come and see us. We had a fantastic day showing you what we do and how we help to keep you safe.

If you missed it, don’t worry. We posted live social media updates throughout the day which you can find on the hashtag #GPOpenDay16, or scroll down the feeds on our Facebook page, www.facebook.com/gloucestershire.constabulary, or Twitter account, www.twitter.com/Glos_Police
