At around 12:25pm today, Thursday 4 January 2018, contractors working for Gloucestershire Highways were engaged in roadworks filling in potholes and conducting minor repairs to the A429 at the junction adjacent to Farmington Natural Stone, Farmington, Cheltenham.

This was a mobile roadworks with two workers engaged in traffic control using Stop/Go signs and communicating via walkie-talkie radios.

One of the contractors, a 59 year man from Berkeley, was standing on the Northleach side of the roadworks when he was passed by a woman driving a vehicle towing a horsebox.  As she passed he was then hit by the vehicle immediately following behind her.  The collision resulted in him being knocked down the embankment off the road.  He sustained injuries to his hip and leg, which fortunately are not believed to the life changing.

The driver of the car that collided with the contractor failed to stop.

We’d like to speak to any drivers using that route at the time who may have witnessed the incident.  Perhaps someone has dashcam footage or any other information that can assist us in finding the driver of that vehicle which may have impact damage to the front nearside.

We’d also like to hear from the woman towing the horsebox as she may have noticed the car that was travelling behind her.

Please call 101 quoting incident number 172 of 4 January 2018.
