Police are appealing for witnesses after a serious single vehicle collision in the Forest of Dean yesterday (Saturday 2 July).

A dark green Ford Fiesta left the road and collided with a tree on the A4136 near Drybrook, close to the junction with Oakland Road at approximately 5.50pm.

The driver, a 38-year-old man from Hartpury, was airlifted to Southmead Hospital in Bristol with life threatening head injuries and remains in a critical condition.

The road was closed until 11.30pm while police carried out a collision investigation.                

Anyone who saw the incident or the car prior to the incident should call 101 and quote incident 379 of 2 July.
