A man has been arrested on suspicion of robbery following an incident at a BP garage in Stroud.

At approximately 3am on Saturday 3 June two males entered the garage on London Road and threatened a member of staff.

A 37-year-old man from Stroud was arrested on Wednesday 7 June and has been released under investigation while enquiries continue.

During the incident money was taken from the till after the cashier was hit with what is believed to have been a hammer.

The male victim sustained injuries to his hand and head and was released from hospital later that morning.

We are still appealing for witnesses or anyone who was in the area at the time to get in touch.

Anyone with information should contact police on 101 and quote incident number 70 of 3/6/17.
