A man has been arrested in connection with a collision which happened on the M5 in Gloucestershire early this morning, Friday 8 September.

The collision happened shortly before 4.30am in the southbound carriageway between junctions 9 and 10 and involved a black Vauxhall Zafira and a red Kia Cee'd

The Vauxhall left the road and landed on its side in a field. 

The driver, a woman in her 60s, was not physically injured.

The driver of the Kia failed to stop at the scene.

At about 7.45am officers arrested a 21-year-old man on suspicion of drink driving and he was taken into custody for questioning.

He has since been released under investigation.
