Gloucestershire Police are in attendance following reports of large numbers of men fighting in Cheltenham town centre.

Police were called at around 10.40 today by shop keepers along the Promenade and Montpellier and by members of public with reports of up to 30-40 males fighting.  The males  moved into various parts of town including Royal Well and Clarence Street.

Some were wearing black, long sleeved shirts with a white logo on the arm, baseball caps and balaclavas.  Reports of green smoke cannisters being thrown were also reported.

It's believed that this disorder may be related to the football match being held later today between Forest Green Rovers and Cheltenham Town football clubs.

Police want to reassure the public that violent disorder will not be tolerated and we will ensure that we identify those responsible and make arrests.  We do not want this type of public affray to escalate or to see anyone injured.

If you have any information that could help with our enquiries please call 101 quoting incident number 140 of 14 April 2018,
