Gloucestershire Constabulary were called at 12.14 today following reports of a serious road traffic collision on the A48 between Newnham and Minsterworth near Westbury-on-Severn.

A black motorcycle, driven by a 28 year old man from Minsterworth collided with a horsebox driven by a 54 year old woman from Dursley.  Despite the best efforts of members of the public, paramedics and the air ambulance crew the motorcyclist was sadly pronounced dead at the scene.  His next of kin have been informed.

The driver of the horsebox was uninjured.

Various roads were closed between Westbury-on-Severn and the Highnam roundabout including the Elton Corner junction.  Roads were reopened just after 4.30pm today.

Police would like to hear from any witnesses who have not yet come forward.  Please call 101 quoting incident number 224 of 24 September 2017.
