Yesterday afternoon (Tuesday 16 May) just after 4pm Gloucestershire Police, along with other emergency services, were called to a serious road traffic collision on the A40 near Sandywell, Andoversford.

A silver Peugeot Partner Van driven by a 27 year old man from Gloucester and a White Peugeot 208 driven by a 68 year old man from Wallsall collided. 

Despite the best efforts of paramedics the driver of the Peugeot 208 died at the scene.  His 72 year old passenger from Presteigne, Powys was taken to Southmead Hospital with serious injuries where he remains.  His injuries are serious but not believed to be life threatening.

The driver of the Peugeot Partner Van was arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving.  He has been released from police custody under investigation.

Police would like to hear from anyone who has not already been spoken to who witnessed the incident to please come forward.  Call 101 quoting incident number 302 of 16 May 2017.
