Police are appealing for information about a hit and run incident in Newent earlier this month.

It happened in Cleeve Mill Lane, near to the bridge under the B4215, at around 1.50pm on Wednesday 11 May.

The driver of a red Peugeot 406 was checking his vehicle for possible defects at the side of the road when an oncoming lime green vehicle, similar to a Vauxhall Corsa or Nissan Micra, struck the man, causing him to fall across the bonnet of the oncoming car.

The driver then failed to stop.

Fortunately the injured man only suffered bruising and is making a recovery.

Anyone who has information on the incident or can identify the vehicle involved should call 101 and quote incident 269 of 11 May.
