Police in Gloucester are investigating an assault which happened in Metz Way in the early hours of Sunday morning, 24 September and appealing for anyone with information to come forward.

Between 3.45 and 4.15am a woman was walking along an alleyway opposite Morrisons when she was grabbed from behind by an unknown man.

The woman swung round and hit the man, but he punched her three times in the face causing a black eye and other facial injuries including a swollen lip.

The offender is described as a white man, slim, about 6ft tall and wearing a grey zip-top hoody.

Following the assault he ran off towards town.

Officers investigating the incident would like to hear from anyone who was in the area at that time and might have information which would help them with their enquiries.
