Police want to trace a man who pulled a knife on a taxi driver to escape payment.

The driver had picked him up from the accident and emergency department at Gloucestershire Royal Hospital in the early hours of Saturday, 4 March.

The man asked to stop at the Co-op in Finlay Road to use an ATM, but on arrival made off without paying his fare.

The taxi driver gave chase and caught up with him in Selwyn Road, but the man produced a pen-knife with a four-inch blade and raised it in a threatening manner.

The offender then ran off towards Northfield Road.

He is described as white, about 5ft 9ins tall and of stocky build. He was wearing a grey hoodie, with the hood up.

Police are appealing for witnesses. Anyone with information should call 101, quoting incident 41 of 4/3/17.
