Police are appealing for information after a fatal collision near Teddington.

The incident happened at about 7.50am this morning(April 5). A black Volkswagen Golf was travelling along the A435 from Cheltenham towards the Teddington Hands roundabout when the vehicle left the road and collided with a tree.

The single occupant of the vehicle - a 48-year-old man from Cheltenham - sadly died of his injuries at the scene. There were no other vehicles involved in the collision. The man's next of kin and the coroner have been informed and formal identification has been carried out.

The road was closed soon after the incident and will remain closed for another few hours until recovery of the vehicle, collision investigation and any necessary repairs to the road have been completed.

Anybody with information on the collision and hasn't already spoken to officers should call police on 101, quoting incident number 57 of April 5.
