Officers are appealing for witnesses and any dashcam footage following a fatal collision in Matson last night.

The crash involved a black Vauxhall Astra and a cyclist and happened on Painswick Road, between the Wheatway and Heron Way, shortly before 6.55pm yesterday (Sunday 1 October).

The cyclist, a 31-year-old man from Gloucester, was pronounced dead at the scene.

The man's next of kin and the coroner have been informed.

The occupants of the Astra, both 18-year-old Gloucester men, were arrested on suspicion of causing death by dangerous driving and currently remain in police custody.

The road reopened shortly before 2am today (Monday 2 October).

A full collision investigation is now under way and anyone who witnessed the collision or has any relevant dashcam footage is being urged to call 101 and quote incident 362 of 1 October.
