We are appealing for witnesses to a serious road traffic collision which occurred on the A4019, Swindon Road, in Cheltenham this morning, Monday 11 September.

At approximately 7.50am there was a collision between a blue Toyota Corolla driven by a 29-year-old man and a pedestrian, a 28-year-old woman from the Cheltenham area.

The female sustained serious injuries and was taken to Southmead Hospital in Bristol where she remains in a stable condition.

Police, including collision investigators, and the ambulance service attended the scene and the road was shut for approximately five hours.

The driver was arrested this morning on suspicion of dangerous driving and remains in police custody at this time.
