Community Highlighted Concern

What is a community highlighted concern?

A community highlighted concern is what your Neighbourhood team will be working on as a priority for your area. These are identified on a monthly basis as a result of a police priority setting meeting which take into account:

  • Information provided to the Community Safety Partnership
  • Information received from your local councillor
  • Community concerns raised through this website

Once prioritised your local team will work towards tackling these issues with the community and if necessary utilise the Time Based Tasking [TBT] process.

Antisocial Behaviour

18/07/2018

Community led policing priority for Gloucester is based on the Police and Crime Commissioner's priority of "Young People Becoming Adults" and "Safer Days and Nights for All" and will be focusing on theft of bikes and shoplifting at retails premises

Birmingham men arrested in connection with County Lines investigation - Gloucester,
Item added: Friday 20 July 2018
Two men from Birmingham have been arrested and suspected Class A drugs seized as part of our investigations to target County Lines drug dealing. On Tuesday (17 July) officers executed a planned stop of a vehicle which had been identified as travelling between Birmingham and Gloucester. The vehicle was safely stopped on the A40 northern bypass and a search resulted in approximately £1,000 worth of suspected crack cocaine being seized.A 21-year-old man and a 23-year-old man, both from Birmingham, were arrested on suspicion of Class A drugs supply. They have been released under investigation pending further enquiries. County Lines relates to the phone lines people use. Drugs gangs set up a dedicated phone number for people to order and supply drugs such as heroin and crack cocaine. They also often take over the homes of vulnerable people and exploit children by using them as drug mules. If you know of someone involved in the supply of Class A drugs, or maybe a mobile number being used to buy and sell drugs, or anything else you think could be useful for us to know please call 101. London men jailed for more than 24 years for stabbing - Cheltenham, Gloucester,
Item added: Wednesday 18 July 2018
Two men from London have been jailed for a total of 24 years and 11 months for their involvement in a stabbing in the county.Jordan Weston, 25 and of Southend Lane admitted wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm in relation to a stabbing in Cheltenham in 2016.At Bristol Crown Court yesterday, Tuesday 17 July, Weston was sentenced to 12 years and 11 months imprisonment with a further four years on licence for the attack. His co-defendant, 22-year-old Uzoma Izunwa, had denied the same charge but was found guilty following a trial at Gloucester Crown Court in November last year. Izunwa, of Sumner Road, Croydon was sentenced to 12 years imprisonment and will serve a further four years on licence. The pair had chased a man through the streets in the town centre on 12 August 2016 and repeatedly stabbed him as he fell to the ground. The victim suffered 15 or 16 stab wounds but did not suffer life threatening injuries in the attack. In May this year Weston was also found guilty of a separate second offence of wounding with intent to cause grievous bodily harm following a trial at Gloucester Crown Court. He had denied stabbing a man three times at Gloucester Park on Monday 4 July 2016 over a drug dealing dispute, but a jury took less than an hour to return a guilty verdict.Gloucestershire Constabulary officers pursued Weston even though the victim was not willing to work with police. He was sentenced to eight years imprisonment for this offence to run concurrently. At the time of the incident Weston was wearing distinctive clothing which helped him to be identified despite the CCTV footage of the assault being of a poor quality. The victim suffered a superficial laceration to the right chest wall and left side of his abdomen as well as a deep laceration to his left forearm.Shortly after these offences Weston was charged and convicted of conspiracy to supply heroin in the Cheltenham area under Operation Emperor - Gloucestershire Constabulary's crackdown on drugs. He was sentenced to three years and eight months. His most recent sentence will run consecutively to the sentence he is currently serving.Detective Inspector Ian Fletcher said: "Weston and Izunwa are a classic example of County Line operators. They took advantage of vulnerable persons and used extreme violence to either secure their drug territories or to send messages to others who wished to challenge their position. "This investigation was lengthy and convoluted but through skill and sheer grit and determination DS Martin and DC Swinyard have secured convictions against two very dangerous individuals."Judge HHJ Cullum commented that he believed there had been an escalation of violence shown by both offenders and it was his view that they were dangerous and posed a real risk of committing further offences likely to cause significant harm. "The sentences passed at Bristol Crown Court show that both Gloucestershire Constabulary and the courts will not tolerate this level of criminality and both Weston and Izunwa will now not see freedom for a considerable amount of time. "I would like to personally thank all those members of the public who came forward providing either evidence or intelligence which led to this successful conviction. With the help of our communities we can rid the county of similar dangerous offenders and send a message that Gloucestershire is not an easy target for County Line offenders."
