Community Highlighted Concern

What is a community highlighted concern?

A community highlighted concern is what your Neighbourhood team will be working on as a priority for your area. These are identified on a monthly basis as a result of a police priority setting meeting which take into account:

  • Information provided to the Community Safety Partnership
  • Information received from your local councillor
  • Community concerns raised through this website

Once prioritised your local team will work towards tackling these issues with the community and if necessary utilise the Time Based Tasking [TBT] process.

Day & Night Time Economy

24/05/2018

Community led policing priority for Cheltenham Town Centre is based on the Police and Crime Commissioner's priority of "Safer days and Nights for all" and "Accessibility and Accountability". We are currently focused on getting the right resources into the Town Centre for the Night time economy . Local Neighbourhood PC's and PCSO's are allocated duties until the early hours, every Friday and Saturday night, to carry out high visibility patrols, working with our partner agencies to make the Town a safer place for all to enjoy. The Town community, also has support from our Force Response Unit, who will be allocated duties into the Town. For large scale events, we also have support from the Horses, which are a great asset to supporting a Safer Night Time in Cheltenham Town. Local PCSO's and PC's continue to work with our Partner agencies on Daysafe. This Scheme are members who have an interest in the Day Time Economy in the Town. It focuses on Begging, Vulnerable homeless members of our community, Shoplifting and ASB.

Lorraine Tatnell is a dedicated PCSO for Town Centre and Montpellier

Lorraine was a Police Receptionist at Stonehouse Police Station for two years before becoming a Police Community Support Officer. In her first year she covered the Lansdown area For the last 9 years Lorraine has patrolled Cheltenham Town Centre and Montpellier areas. Lorraine says that working in the town centre is very different to other community areas, as it is a mixture of mainly businesses and has few residential areas, As part of her role, she works closely with the Day and Nighttime economy and has the lead responsibility for the Retail Sector, which involves working with the stores and their security to combat shoplifting. Lorraine also works with partner agencies to help and support the homeless to get them rehoused and off the streets Lorraine Says " My role in the town centre is very varied and no two days are the same. I enjoy it when Cheltenham Races are held and love to work in the town when it becomes alive with race goes and visitors. The fun part of the job is attending the local events held all over the community, where we get to spend time with children and their parents as part of our community engagement "
