PCSO Lorraine Tatnell has worked for Gloucestershire constabulary for 12 years. Lorraine was a Police Receptionist at Stonehouse Police Station for two years before becoming a Police Community Support Officer.
In her first year she covered the Lansdown area For the last 9 years Lorraine has patrolled Cheltenham Town Centre and Montpellier areas.
Lorraine says that working in the town centre is very different to other community areas, as it is a mixture of mainly businesses and has few residential areas.
As part of her role, she works closely with the Day and Nighttime economy and has the lead responsibility for the Retail Sector, which involves working with the stores and their security to combat shoplifting.
Lorraine also works with partner agencies to help and support the homeless to get them rehoused and off the streets. Lorraine Says " My role in the town centre is very varied and no two days are the same.
I enjoy it when Cheltenham Races are held and love to work in the town when it becomes alive with race goes and visitors. The fun part of the job is attending the local events held all over the community, where we get to spend time with children and their parents as part of our community engagement "
