The Cotswolds
We cover 9 neighbourhoods in the Cotswolds. Inspector Karen Ellis is the main point of contact for local communities and partner organisations. I was thrilled to get the job of my dreams when I left school and joined the Metropolitan Police Service in 1988, first as a cadet then a constable. I always had a desire to ride police motorcycles and I was thrilled to be selected to join the traffic division and police London on a motorbike, one of only a few female constables to do so at that time. I then spent three years on a home office secondment as a police trainer at Bramshill Staff College in Hampshire. It was during this time, half way through my career, I decided to study for promotion and look to join a rural force, always being a country girl at heart. I transferred to Gloucestershire in 2002 and have worked throughout the county in various roles and I am delighted to be working as the Neighbourhood Policing Inspector for the Cotswolds. My passion in policing has always been to help people and build relationships that have positive effects on the quality of individuals. I have a genuine passion for the outdoors, a trained mountain leader and competent shepherdess! I play the cornet in a local brass band and am an active member of my local church, I also assist the local Hedgehog Hospital in their work. I love the variety that policing has to offer, my job and my hobbies help to keep me busy and in touch with the things that really matter to communities.
