The Chief Constable, Rod Hansen, and The Police and Crime Commissioner, Martin Surl, warmly invite you to our Open Day.
On Saturday 14 September from 10am-3pm, Gloucestershire Constabulary will open its doors to the public once again. This FREE event will take place at Gloucestershire Constabulary's HQ in Quedgeley, and is guaranteed to be a fun-filled and informative day out for all of the family.
You'll be able to get up close and personal with our fleet of police vehicles, drones unit, firearms unit and mounted unit. Our display arena will be jam-packed with demonstrations throughout the day, with the return of our police dogs display and high-octane public order demonstration, plus much more!
There will also be an opportunity to get behind-the-scenes access to our custody suites and control room with our popular tours, and understand the complex nature of the work we do through a series of lectures throughout the day. There will also be plenty of new attractions including a mock police scenario.
In addition to the above, you'll also be able to step back in time with our archive collection and discover Gloucestershire Constabulary's past and learn about the forensic techniques used to solve crime with our forensic department. If you are thinking of joining the police then come and visit the staff in the recruitment zone who will be providing advice and information about the various exciting opportunities offered by the Constabulary.
Alongside our police and OPCC representatives, we'll be joined by many partners, agencies and exhibitors. We hope to see you there!
Well behaved dogs are permitted to attend the Open Day however, only guide dogs will be allowed within the police buildings.
Please take into consideration the event will be very busy and noisy with police sirens.
Do not bring dogs and leave them in vehicles unattended.
There will be a range of reasonably priced, local food suppliers at the event to cover all culinary tastes.
You are more than welcome to bring picnics to the day but please do not bring any knives of any sort.
As part of our ongoing commitment to help protect and improve the environment for our communities, we're asking visitors to help us minimalise the use of single use plastic. We are encouraging visitors to bring their own refillable drinking bottles and make use of the water bowers that will be available on site. The bowsers will be provided by Severn Trent and will be available for visitors to use free of charge.
The Open Day will take place at Gloucestershire Constabulary County police Headquarters, 1 Waterwells, Waterwells Drive, Quedgeley, Gloucester, GL2 2AN.
Public parking is available at the Park and Ride facility which is a few minutes’ walk from Police Headquarters as well as a number of other car parks that belong to local businesses. Parking will be well signed on approach to the event.
Disabled parking is available next door to the Police headquarters, which is very close to the main site.
Please ensure you bring and display your disabled badge in your vehicle.
Upon arrival to HQ, security checks and a search system will be in place. Please be patient for a short wait and remember we have your safety in mind. Please do not bring any knives, bladed or pointed articles of any sort into the event.
Whilst adequate security is provided on site, it is your responsibility to ensure the safety of your belongings. There is no lockable storage on site so please bear this in mind when bringing items of high value. The Constabulary and OPCC cannot accept responsibility for the safety of goods at any time.
You are advised not to leave any valuable equipment or articles unattended at any time. Please report any unattended bags or suspicious items to a member of staff.
We will be offering wristbands for vulnerable adults and children where you can write a contact number on. In the unlikely event of you being separated, officers are then able to easily identify parents/guardians and reunite them as soon as possible.
The event is FREE and does not require a ticket.
Spaces on the behind-the-scenes tours to our Force Control Room and Custody Please are available on a first-come-first-serve basis only on the day.

Zone 1 - Display arena
10.00am - Police band - The Band of Gloucestershire Constabulary will take pride of place in our display arena to officially open the event. Visitors will be treated to musical masterpiece as our annual event gets underway.
10.30am - Who let the dogs out? - Watch our highly-trained dogs in action as they take to our display arena to showcase their specialist skills. Our dog unit will demonstrate how they prevent and detect crime by recreating real life scenarios, as well as proving their bite is definitely worse than their bark! This is one of our most popular arena displays and one you certainly do not want to miss!
11.00am - Cops n robbers - Cops and robbers take to the arena for the ultimate showdown! As the robbers attempt to make the perfect getaway, our cops will be hot on their tails on mini-motos. This promises to be an exciting fast-faced display - blink and you'll miss it!
11.30am - In the firing line - Our highly trained firearms unit demonstrate their specialist skills and capabilities. You'll get a unique insight into the world of a firearms officer as they demonstrate how they respond to conflict and assess threats using a range of tactical options.
12.00pm - I predict a riot - Our riot squad will be taking to our display arena for a high-octane public order demonstration complete with petrol bombs, Tasers and our canine colleagues! This action-packed display will showcase the tactics used in a public order situation to ensure we are prepared for any situation. There will also be an opportunity for visitors to get involved – you won’t want to miss this!
12.45pm - Children’s fancy dress parade - We are encouraging children to dress up in their best police uniforms at our Open Day. Children will be invited to the display arena to parade their outfits, and the child with the best uniform will be awarded a prize!
1.00pm - Cadet drill - Our Police Cadet scheme provides young people between the ages of 13 and 18 years-old the opportunity to help keep communities safe by working alongside police officers and PCSOs. The scheme provides exciting opportunities to develop new skills and self confidence, which will be demonstrated in this display as our Cadets proudly showcase their skills in a drill.

2.30pm – It’s an emergency! - The sirens are on and we're on our way! The three emergency services race to the scene of a serious accident to demonstrate how they work together at the scene. As the clock ticks down, the services show how they deal with complex situations that arise to ensure the best chance of survival.

Our Talk Tent is set to be one of the most popular attractions at our Open Day. There will be several talks throughout the day covering a wide range of topics, providing a detailed insight into the world of policing.
