Please note: Calls to our Control Room may be recorded for police purposes
Gloucestershire Constabulary answers the majority of your calls at our county call centre. However, it will still be your local officers who respond to reported incidents. Our operators will offer an immediate service or connect you to the most appropriate department to deal with your call.
999 = Emergency
Please only use 999 to report emergency situations. There is a helpful mnemonic to remember when to use 999:
- Phone 999 only if:
- Offenders are nearby
- Life is at risk
- Injury is caused or threatened
- Crime or disorder is in progress
- Emergency situations
Gloucestershire Constabulary receives around 72,000 999 calls each year and aims to answer these emergency calls as quickly as possible.
101 = Non-emergency
101 is our easy to remember 24-hour number for non-emergency crime and anti-social behaviour issues as well as general enquiries.
Calls to 101 will cost 15p per call, irrespective of how long the call lasts and applies to landlines and mobile phones.
To contact us from outside Gloucestershire, or where 101 is unobtainable, please ring 01452 726920
Please note that our non-emergency number can only be used from within the United Kingdom as a direct dial number. Callers from outside the United Kingdom will need to be connected via the international operator. If overseas please ring + 44 1452 72 6920

MMS - Sending Pictures via Text Message to the Constabulary
We now have the facility to receive static 'pictures' captured on Mobile phones via a dedicated number (Receipt of moving Video is NOT currently available). It is important to note that specific legislation relates to this kind of material e.g., Right to a private life under Human Rights Act. And there are strict guidelines for the police to adhere in relation to such material.
Where you may have something of evidential value captured as an image on a mobile phone then please make a police call taker aware, or police personnel who are in attendance at the scene. You will then be provided with a dedicated number on which to send any such images to the police. To ensure this service is not abused we will create a specific incident related to that material and this may require taking a small amount of detail from the caller.
Note that it costs 40p to send an image via this text system.
In forwarding any image(s) to Gloucestershire Constabulary you are expressing agreement to assign to us copyright in the image to enable us to store, reproduce or publish the image as we consider necessary or desirable.
