Police Officer Transferee Recruitment
Gloucestershire Constabulary is accepting transfer applications from Police Constables who have successfully completed their Student Officer Training (IPLDP) and are currently serving with a police force based in the UK. Please note that we are not currently accepting applications for any other rank, specialist skill nor transfer on promotion.
Candidates will be asked to submit an application form along with:
- Performance Development Reviews (PDRs) / staff appraisals covering the last two years.
- Evidence of confirmation in the rank of Constable.
- Professional Standards and / or misconduct information
The Process
Applications and PDRs are assessed to confirm suitability. If you pass this stage you will be invited to attend a formal competency based interview. Following a successful interview, medical, vetting and references checks will be initiated.
If successful, your transfer date will be confirmed to meet the needs of the organisation whilst taking into account your personal circumstances.
In addition to the above, officers from Scottish forces will be required to study for and undertake and English law based exam.
Postings
All officers within Gloucestershire Constabulary can be posted anywhere within the County to meet organisational need. All postings will be made in accordance with the agreed Police Officer Posting and Internal Selection Procedure.
In the first instance we are looking for officers to undertake uniform roles. In most cases, you will remain in a uniform role for two years before other postings will be considered.
Relocation
A relocation package of up to £8000 is available in line with Police Regulations 2003, Annex V, section 2d (i) and (ii).
For an application pack and further information please contact the Resourcing Unit by email resourcing@gloucestershire.police.uk or on 01452 754353.
All applications must be received by the Resourcing Unit by the closing date of Friday 17 February 2012.
Vetting Residency Criteria Statement
You must be a British citizen, an EC/EEA national or a Commonwealth citizen or foreign national with no restrictions on your stay in the United Kingdom. You must have been a resident in the UK for three years, without breaks prior to the date you signed your completed application form. The calculation of the three year period of time refers to the period immediately before an application is made.
This is to satisfy the requirement to vet all applicants in an equitable manner since the UK Police Service does not currently have any means of facilitating vetting checks overseas to the extent required of those who have been resident in the UK.
Applicants who cannot be vetted cannot be appointed.
Gloucestershire Constabulary has agreed a reasonable concession to consider applications from applicants who have been outside the UK provided this does not exceed more than 3 months within the last 3 years.
It should be noted that the Chief Officer reserves the right to refuse employment without giving reason under Section 6 Police Act 1966 and the Police (Scotland) Act 1967.
