Gloucestershire Constabulary affirms its commitment to the Policing Pledge, which outlines the standards of service everyone can expect to receive from the force.
The Policing Pledge is a national initiative, under which police forces are expected to deliver a 10 point plan to ensure law abiding citizens are supported and kept safe from harm.
The national pledge is to be underpinned by local pledges, and within Gloucestershire these will be tailored for each of our 55 communities.
Ivor Twydell, Gloucestershire’s Assistant Chief Constable, Corporate Services, said: “We are already committed to delivering high standards of service across the county, and the Policing Pledge will build upon that commitment.
“Work is underway to ensure we deliver the pledge and its priorities, which we believe will bring us even closer to our communities and increase trust and confidence in the Constabulary.
“The local pledges will be shaped by our Safer Community Teams with the help of the neighbourhoods they serve, because we understand that what communities deem to be priorities will vary from area to area.
“The pledge gives us clear minimum standards to maintain and we are fully signed up to this important initiative.”
The national Policing Pledge includes promises on treating people fairly and ensuring access to services, providing information on Safer Community Teams and how to contact them, ensuring visible patrols are undertaken, meeting targets for answering and dealing with phone calls, and acknowledging and dealing with dissatisfaction in service.
There are 55 local pledges, and as an example the pledge for Nailsworth includes the following priorities:
- To address the Anti-Social behaviour problems on the zig-zag footpath in the town centre and parking at Forest Green Rovers
- To address the problem of underage drinking in Lawnside
- To address the speeding in Old Market and Bus Station
Each local priority will have a named officer responsible for ensuring it is achieved, and local pledges, which will be displayed in poster form in local areas, will also include photographs of local SCT officers, contact information and details of any events, such as meetings, being held in the area.
