Two arrested after successful warrant in Stonehouse

Stonehouse Police Officers have seized a quantity of cannabis after conducting a successful warrant in Stonehouse.

Officers found the drugs at a property in Cedar Gardens after executing the warrant on Wednesday October 21.

A second property was also searched, as a result of the initial warrant, where a quantity of herbal cannabis as well as drug paraphernalia was seized.

A 55-year-old woman and a 52-year-old man, both from Stonehouse, have been arrested on being concerned in the cultivation of cannabis and are currently on police bail pending further enquiries.

”We will act on intelligence provided by us from the public and I would urge anybody who has any information in drug related activity in the Stonehouse area to get in touch with police tell us what you know.”

Anybody with information can call Gloucestershire Constabulary on 0845 090 1234 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.

Police Information Points timetable - Stonehouse SCT

Police Information Points offer a point of contact for the community with the Police. PIPs are supported by local police officers and police staff they are a two-way communication point between the police and the public. They are supported by local businesses and organisations who have agreed to display a PIP in their premises on behalf of the police. A PIP is an information board containing posters and leaflets and most have the facility to leaves messages for the local police officer.

It should however be remembered that this is not a way to report police incidents as you should always Dial '999' in an emergency or 0845 090 1234 in a non-emergency.

Stonehouse SCT advice for the summer

It’s that time of year again when we all spend more time outdoors in the sunshine in our back gardens.
But sometimes we can be forgetful and can leave the doors and windows open and the house unattended.

An open window can be an opportunity for a burglar to carry out a crime undetected and with the fewest number of obstacles in their way.

A building that presents itself as unoccupied and insecure is far more likely to be targeted than one which is properly secured.
We would like to remind the public that windows and doors can let in more than just fresh air.

We can all follow the simple crime prevention measures below.

  • No matter how hot it is, if you go out make sure that all ground floor windows and doors are shut securely.
  • If you have window locks make sure they are used.
  • If you are out in the garden, make sure your doors are locked and your home is secure - thieves can take advantage of any opportunity.
  • Don't leave keys in the inside of the door or in view, they can be accessed through the letter box, window or cat flap. Keys should also NEVER be hidden outside.
  • Have a look at your own security - How would you get in if you were locked out. If you can get in so can a burglar.
  • If you are away on holiday ask a trusted neighbour, friend or family member to check on your house regularly.
  • If you see anything suspicious report it!

Always remember the following “Close it! Lock it! Check it!

Bogus Callers

Fortunately 'Bogus Caller' crimes are quite low within the Stonehouse  I.N.A. but when they happen they cause extreme distress for the mainly elderly citizens who are the main victims of these horrible crimes.

Both 'Bogus Caller' & 'Distraction' crimes involve people knocking on your door with the intention of gaining entry to your property.  These crimes are often committed on vulnerable people & the offenders often work in teams of two or three, however, sometimes a solo person may pose as a trades person.

Beat the Bogus Caller

When somebody knocks on your door always check via a window or engage a security chain if you have one.  Ask to see their I.D. and you can request to take their card and phone the company direct. This will confirm their I.D. to conduct their job, please remember, there are false I.D. cards in circulation.

A genuine caller will gladly assist with the above if you have any doubts. When you are totally happy, only then should you invite somebody into your home.

A 'Bogus Caller' will pose as a trades person typically saying that they are from the Water Board {which does not exist now} or some other utility company.  Once they have your attention, they may then attempt to come into your home.

A 'Distraction' crime will usually involve one person getting you talking about buying goods off them or touting for home improvements whilst another person may be trying to gain entry to your property from the rear.

Remember if you have any doubt, never open the door and always call 999!

Mobile Police Station Stonehouse INA Visits

The Mobile Police Station is covered by PCSO Paul Bowman.

Generally the M.P.S. visits a location twice a month and exact times of visits can often be found on parish notice boards, police information points and local press.

If you've never visited our M.P.S. before, it's an opportunity for residents in rural locations to come along and have a chat with a local officer.  If you have any concerns which you would like to discuss in privacy and on a one-to-one basis then the M.P.S. is a way of doing it.

The officer on board will try and assist you there and then, however, at times your enquiry may need to be passed on to another officer who will contact you direct.

For a timetable of the visits in your area, visit the Rural Policing page on this Web site and look under Mobile Police Stations.

If you wish to contact the M.P.S.for further information E-mail  egmps@gloucestershire.police.uk
