Cheltenham and Tewkesbury Division
The Cheltenham & Tewkesbury Division covers just under 45,000 hectares, a combination of urban and rural areas including some of Gloucestershire's major towns and is home to 180,166 (mid-2000 estimates) people and around 78, 000 households.
Cheltenham Spa is a vibrant Regency town. It is the tourist centre for the Cotswold with a thriving shopping centre and a robust night-time economy - it regularly attracts over 16,000 every weekend. Other key towns include historic Tewkesbury, Winchcombe and Bishops Cleeve.
Officers deal with 37% of the county crime.
The division is home to Cheltenham Racecourse, where the National Hunt Festival in March regularly attracts 50,000 people each day, Cheltenham Town Football Club, Gloucestershire Airport and the University of Gloucestershire.
The Cheltenham & Tewkesbury Division prides itself on its community approach to policing. It works closely with many other agencies and our Crime and Disorder Partnerships have developed a national reputation for being effective.
