Profile: Sgt Tristan Jones
My name is Tristan Jones and I am the Safer Neighbourhoods Sergeant based at Tewkesbury Police Station.. I have eight years service all of which has been in the Gloucestershire Constabulary. I am a former Detective Constable attached to Cheltenham CID and have worked as a Sergeant in Hesters Way and Whaddon INA’s. I now have a managerial responsibility for policing services in this area. This includes the implementation of strategies in partnership with various agencies to reduce crime and antisocial behaviour, and the fear of both. Your Safer Neighbourhood Team are here to focus on your long term problems, engaging with those affected and often, other partner agencies, to find answers to the problems that repeatedly affect the community. Of course if there is an emergency, we are here to help with that too.
Profile:PCSO Emma Birch
I first joined Gloucestershire Constabulary in 2004 and worked with the Criminal Justice system in Gloucester before becoming a PCSO in 2006. I enjoy my work immensely being the community officer for the Coombe Hill neighbourhood which incorporates such villages as Chaceley, Apperley, Elmstone Hardwick along with may more in that part of the county. I spend the majority of my time out on patrol forming relationships with the community and helping to sort out people’s problems which gives me a great deal of satisfaction.
I will endeavor to meet as many of the neighbourhood as I can and will do my best to make that part of the County a safer place to live and work in. I will do my utmost to help deal with any community issues that arise, and will always put the people of that community first.
Profile: PC Phil Groom
Having now notched up over 31 years as a Police Constable, the majority spent on the front line, I am one of the most experienced officers in the county. After spending two years as a Police Cadet, I cut my teeth at Gloucester City Centre in the late 70’s before having postings to Cinderford, Coleford, Dursley, Stroud including two years at The Royal Households Protection Group at Highgrove. Numerous years were spent in the North Cotswolds before moving over to Tewkesbury five years ago to pioneer the Constabularies Neighbourhood Policing concept. Having become one of the first County Council funded officers in the county I am now beat manager for the Coombe Hill neighbourhood including such communities as Apperley, Forthampton, Deerhurst, Tirley, Elmstone Hardwick & Chaceley where I am supported by two PCSO’s, Emma Birch & Debbie Lipinski. Having seen great many changes over the years I still enjoy dealing with the community, sorting out their problems and feeling at the end of the day that you’ve made a difference

Bogus Callers
PCSO Emma Birch has been visiting isolated locations within her communities in and around the Coombe Hill area speaking to residents and advising them regarding bogus callers who have operated in that area in the past. Most people who call at your home will be genuine but sometimes someone may turn up unannounced, with the intension of tricking their way into your home. Genuine callers to your property will always be happy to make an appointment to call and will always carry an identity card with their photograph.
They wont mind waiting if you want to phone and confirm their identity or want to arrange a different time to call.
ONLY LET THEM IN WHEN YOU ARE ABSOLUTELY SURE THAT THE CALLER IS GENUINE
KEEP THEM OUT IF YOU ARE IN DOUBT!
