Profile: Police Sergeant Katie Holt

I joined the Constabularly in 1993 and have served in a range of roles, predominantly in response policing, but also the Domestic Abuse Unit and Custody Unit. Whilst Bishops Cleeve Police Station has now closed, and officers are based at Tewkesbury Police Station, your local police team are still accessible to you.
I would encourage anyone to contact us with a policing issue either in person via the new library point, via the email system (See Contact Us), or phoning 101. Our aim is to continue to reduce crime working in partnership with others to solve policing issues, notably antisocial behaviour.

Profile: PCSO Sherry Piper

I first joined Gloucestershire Constabulary in 2001 as a traffic Warden and then transferred as a Police Community Support Officer in September 2003.  I was one of the first 20 PCSO's in Gloucestershire along with PCSO Wren who was also sent to Tewkesbury Inspector Neighbourhood area.  I love being a PCSO and working in this community.  If you need to contact me about any issues do to with Bishops Cleeve ring me on our non emergency number 101.

Profile: PCSO Bill Wren

I have been a PCSO since 2003 with Gloucester Police and was one of the first 20 employed by the Constabulary.  I have been a member of the Tewksbury Local Policing team from the beginning and I am now a local officer covering Bishops Cleeve, Woodmancote, Oxenton, Stoke Orchard and surrounding villages.  I find the role of a PCSO to be very satisfying, because being on foot patrol I have direct contact with the public. I find there is nothing more pleasing than someone saying "It's good to see you on patrol".

Driving advice given in Bishops Cleeve

On Wednesday 21st December, PCSO Dee Jones and PCSO Angela Parker provided free Ice Scrapers, outside Tescos Bishops Cleeve. This was in support of the Road Policing Unit campaign.

Sergeant Lucy Smith from the Roads Policing Unit, said: "At this time of year the low temperatures and icy weather can cause very poor driving conditions. However, there's a lot that drivers can do to make their journey as safe as possible. One of the most important things to do is to make sure you have a completely clear windscreen before you drive off.
If your view is in any way obscured, be it because it's misted up or it's covered in ice or snow, then you put yourself and others in serious danger."

You should clear the entirety if the windscreen, not just a small section the driver sees out of, as well as the side and rear windows.

Bishops Cleeve Local Policing Team have responsibility for the three Parishes

Bishops Cleeve Local Policing Team have responsibility for the three Parishes which make up Bishops Cleeve, namely Pullar, Grange and St. Michaels and also Gotherington, Southam, Teddington, Stoke Orchard Oxenton and Woodmancote. Each area has a number of Neighbourhood Watch Coordinators (NHW) who pass on information they receive from the Police, relevant to that area, and which is then passed on to members of the NHW scheme or via Parish notice boards. Your local PCSOs can put you in touch with your NHW should you wish to be involved and be more informed of crimes and incidents in your area.

Bishops Cleeve Winter Crime Prevention Advice

Crime prevention for the winter months

Please be aware that during the winter months with the darker mornings and evenings as a community we can become more vulnerable to crime. Whether it being car breaks, shed or garage breaks. Burglaries to our homes especially with Christmas fast approaching us.  At this time we need to be more vigilant and more aware of securing our properties, out buildings and cars.

At Home

Don’t keep keys, money, phones or other valuables on a hall table.  Make sure these items are well out of sight and range of doors and windows as thieves use rods and hooks through letter boxes and open windows to reach keys and bags

If you store bicycles in a shed make sure the building is secure

Take the frame numbers of new bicycles and electrical equipment in case the worse happens

Mark goods where possible with a UV pen / smartwater

Visiting family and friends

If you’re going out

Make sure you have locked all windows and doors

If you are going out in the evening close your curtains so potential thieves can’t see in

Leave a light and the radio on

If you are going out in the morning and won’t be back until it is dark use an automatic timer for lights and radio

If you’re going away

Ensure all doors and windows are shut and locked

Cancel all newspapers and milk

Tell your neighbours/and or your Neighbourhood Watch Scheme that you will be away so they can keep an eye on your home

Perhaps they can make sure any mail is pushed through your letter box

Maybe a trusted neighbour could draw and pull the curtains of your home in the evening and morning, again, looking as if you’re at home

Hide any valuables

Use timers for your lights, TV and radio so it looks as if you’re at home

Your Local Policing Team are here to help and offer any crime prevention advice you may wish. If you would like us to visit and carry out a home property safety survey please call us on 101 or email us via the 'Contact Us' page on this website.

We will report on crime figures and discuss actions that have been taken to reduce and detect crime. Should you wish to raise a concern, please email us via the 'Contact Us' page.

At the January meeting, attendees were updated regarding the three months crime figures, and the outcome of the following actions to :-

1.  'Disrupt the availability of Cannabis in Cleeve' - Two people have been charged with possession with intent to supply, and one person was bailed pending forensic analysis of drugs. 4 people were found in possession of cannabis and were reported for these offences.

2. 'To disrupt crime in Bushcombe Lane, Woodmancote as there had been evidence of burglary, theft from motor vehicles and drug use in the area'. Stolen cabling was found with the metal removed and one person was found to be smoking cannabis in the parking areas. Local residents received a leaflet advising them of the problems and patrols were increased in the area.

3. 'To improve relationships with the youth in Cleeve through interaction with Police staff and via planned activities'. We regularly patrol areas where there have been reports of anti social behaviour caused by young persons gathering, but no offences have been committed during this period. PCSOs are committed to regular patrols at the 5 schools in the area and work closely with staff. The Parish Council have funded a range of activities which are reported upon in their website.
