Moorland - Linden Residents Association Meeting - Police Related Issues
Introduction to new area Inspector
Residents at the local Residents' Association had the opportunity to speak directly to the new area Inspector Craig Guthrie. Many questions were answered and concerns were raised including:-
The new 101 non emergency number
Residents were reminded that it costs 15p no matter how long the call and this was generally cheaper than the 0845 number which was priced at 7 per minute. Residents were advised when calling to ask for an incident number so that the call can be tracked and dealt with if there were to be any follow up work.
Parking speeding / issues
Other issues were discussed such as parking issues which will be passed on to the local council/highways dept. Alongside this residents were invited to work with PC Curtis and let him know the key areas and more importantly times, in order that speed monitoring could be put in place within the Moorland/Linden area with local residents and partners. PC Curtis will be arranging speed checks in the near future in area hot spots to monitor reports of excessive speed. Residents will be invited to come along with PC Curtis and monitor the traffic themselves including Frampton road and New Street.
Future commitment
Residents were told that we are in a time where resources are being stretched especially as the Olympics are on the horizon but we will are doing all we can to patrol the streets and reassure the public.
Operation Dazzle which targets cyclists without lights and riding on the pavement is continuing alongside high visibility patrols in the area.
Next Meeting
The chair advised that the next residents' meeting will be held on the Wednesday 1st March at 7.00pm at St Stephens Church. Residents who would like to raise any concerns or feedback on community issues are always welcome. The local police will, as usual do their best to attend.
